Rationale

Person Rationale:
I interviewed Sharron because I thought it was very interesting her story of going on holiday in Europe and then finding a job teaching gypsys or Irish Travellers. I wanted to find out what she did what it was like and what was different amongst their lifestyle to ours. I chose to interview her at school as it fitted the story of her being a teacher. I chose the cutaways to keep the viewer’s attention as I thought watching a video of just a close up shot would be boring. Cutaways involved children, artwork and school related items such as books which I though look good and was suitable for my videos topic and visually showing where she’s is at today in her career as a teacher
Place Rationale:
I chose this area of Browns Bay along Paremata Road as it is a place which I use to visit a lot when I was in college and I would always pass this small beach every day on the way to and from school. Where me and my mates you to chill and relax after hot school days so I decided to portray this place as refreshing natural and peaceful.I used shots that were very vibrant and had a lot of focus in clarity of the Highlighted subject in the shot. I walk down to the beach and look up to find the beach. I then have various cut scenes displaying the views of the beach and the various landmarks, things and sheds at the beach. It is located near a corner with moderate traffic which audio I thought added to the environment of the area using the raw natural audio from it with the native birds in the background and waters movement. I chose to record this on a great day was I was trying to imitate summer as how me and my friends use to come down to swim and jet ski after hot school days at college. The detour end connects with the intro of the video Detour Ahead. I’ve focused on Shots which have relevance to the places we would play and hangout along the beach. I Added Black bars along the top and bottom as I though the video looked nicer and it helped the colour on the video too with the framing.Editing I liked the straight cut to each shot but have a fade in and out for the beginning
Inspiration for this film was Ivan Slavov a Music Video Producer I like his style of shooting and edits. He has very clear nicely edited music videos which keep consistent vivid detail.

Final Video Person

Final Video Place

Editing

I have used Final Cut Pro Before so i have not had any real issues with the program

(updated)
i had one issue with my file size in my final being tremendously big for such a short film.
*Fixed*

Editing 16 mins worth of interview
4 mins worth of extra film for scenes

editing 30 mins worth of the beach

-slow process going through all the film

I would like for my place film to have a fade in intro and to hold steady clear focused shots with quick cuts.
envisioned this should look contemporary and should be interesting to viewers.
the shots will highlight the landmarks and keys to the place.

edit: intro will not be of car as seen in story board but will start walking to the beach.
found the window and frame of car would just disrupt the footage.

focus and clarity will be big factors amongst the decisions of footage

I would like my intro to have a traditional interview style with a slight twist with cut scenes to relevant items/ images of teaching and school. i would like her to be the focus so there will be no other participant in the audio and she will guide / narrate the interview.

close ups will be used for her face and talking scenes to capture emotion.

extra scenes
-teaching
-library
-class mat
-artwork
-kids*
i will need to edit there faces out due to not having their permision

Interview Outcome

The Interview was a success Sharron was a great interviewee with a bit of charisma and expression which help my footage. was quite hard looking for shots without the children facing the camera but i did edit out the errors. Just tweaking my Final Edit Now
